My action for a more sustainable future is to implement koa germination into the Mililani Agriculture program by partnering with Adopt a Forest and Kupu. The koa saplings will eventually be transplanted on campus where they will grow for future generations to enjoy. Steps that have and will be taken are talking with the agriculture teacher for permission to implement my action into his class, attending a volunteer day at the Makiki nursery to learn the proper protocols for koa propagation, and outplanting koa on campus that were germinated earlier in the 2016-2017 school year. The preferred future that I want to see is either a fully functioning native Hawaiian forest or our community to have more native landscaping.
